MPK&D founding partner Mary Pat Seurkamp, Ph.D. has been named chair of the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan. Mary Pat, president emerita at Notre Dame of Maryland University, brings more than 40 years of experience in higher education administration and governance to this important role.

MHEC is Maryland’s higher education coordinating board which establishes statewide policies for the state’s public and private colleges and universities and for-profit career schools. MHEC also administers state financial aid programs for students.

Mary Pat chaired the board of the Council for Independent Colleges (CIC) from 2003 through 2005 and is a senior advisor for the New Presidents Program. She led the Maryland Independent College and University Association Board (MICUA) from 2008 to 2011, served on the board and executive committee of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities and was chair of the Maryland Hospital Association Board.
